Our Commitment

Safe, gentle, high-quality care

Our practice is committed to providing you and your family with safe, gentle, high-quality dental care. We understand that you, or your child, may feel anxious about visiting the dentist.

We are sensitive to your needs, and it is our goal to make you feel comfortable visiting our practice while providing the best care possible. If something is uncomfortable, say so — we would rather slow down than have you dread coming back.

What to Expect

At your first visit

A first appointment is mostly about gathering a complete picture of your mouth so the doctor can give you honest, specific recommendations.

  1. 1

    We review your history

We go through your medical and dental history forms together, including any medications you take and past dental work that still bothers you.

  2. 2

    We take x-rays

Digital x-rays of your teeth and mouth show us decay, bone levels, and problems developing below the gumline that an exam alone cannot reveal.

  3. 3

    We perform a periodontal exam

We check that your gums adhere tightly to your teeth and confirm that no periodontal disease or bone loss is occurring.

  4. 4

    You meet with the doctor

The doctor reviews your x-rays with you, builds an individual treatment plan, and answers every question you have before anything is scheduled.

Plan Your Day

How long it takes

We understand that you have a busy schedule.

Please plan for your appointment to last between 45 and 90 minutes. Routine cleanings are on the shorter end; first visits and treatment appointments take longer because we are gathering records and talking through options.

The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Regular checkups are an important part of maintaining a healthy smile — most problems we catch early are quick and inexpensive to fix.

Questions

Before your first appointment

How long will my dental appointment take?
Plan for 45 to 90 minutes. A routine cleaning and exam sits at the shorter end, while a first visit that includes x-rays, a periodontal exam, and a treatment planning conversation with the doctor runs longer.
How often should I come in for a checkup?
The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine cleanings to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Some patients with gum disease or a high cavity risk benefit from more frequent visits.
What dental insurance do you accept?
We are an in-network provider for CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and file claims with most other PPO plans as a courtesy. Bring your insurance card to your first visit and our front desk will verify your benefits before treatment begins.
What if I do not have dental insurance?
Ask about Smile Beautiful Wellness, our in-house dental assistance program. It covers your yearly preventive care for one low fee with no deductible, no yearly maximum, and no waiting period, plus a 15% courtesy fee schedule on restorative work.
I am nervous about the dentist. Can you help?
Yes. Dr. Dan specializes in painless dentistry and our whole team is sensitive to dental anxiety. Tell us when you book and at your visit — we will explain each step before we begin, go at your pace, and stop whenever you need a break.
Do you see children?
We do. We treat patients of every age, from infants and toddlers through grandparents, and we are happy to schedule family appointments back to back so you only make one trip.
